在奈及利亞南部的部分地區，仍然有許多，指控兒童為「巫童」，並虐待他們的案件發生。根據收留拯救這些兒童的庇護中心指出，即使政府當局已經立法禁止，這類案件卻仍然時有所聞。過去20年內，至少就有3萬件案例發生。而有些兒童獲救後，獲得接受教育的機會，重新開始了，自己的人生。
