南韓總統李在明，即將和美國總統川普展開會談，備受關注。預計這次他們會針對北韓，關稅貿易，和駐韓美軍問題，進行討論。不過，在他赴美前，會先在23號出訪日本，此舉一改歷屆南韓總統首度出訪第一站先去美國的慣例。值得注意的是，一向被認為對中國和北韓較為友善的他，決定不去北京參加9月3日的大閱兵。
