以色列安全內閣在8日，批准總理納坦雅胡，要全面控制加薩市的計畫，引發國際譁然。聯合國除了表達深感憂心外，也呼籲以色列立即收手，指出這有違國際法院的裁決。同時德國、英國和土耳其等國家領袖，也都反對以色列這項決定，包括德國總理梅爾茨，是直接下令暫停了對以色列出口，可能用在加薩走廊的軍事裝備。
