俄羅斯遠東「堪察加半島」發生規模8.8的強震後，有可能受到海嘯衝擊的俄日美三國政府，都對沿岸地區，緊急發布撤離令，嚴陣以待。而在俄羅斯的千島群島，已經出現大浪，吞噬沿海建築。而在日本，從靠近震央的北海道地區，一直到關東與沖繩地區，也都發出海嘯警報。
