在越來越多亞洲國家，成功與美國達成協議，降低關稅的情況下，被美國預設25%關稅的馬來西亞，也在積極尋求，得到與印尼、越南等國一樣的20%稅率。然而根據知情人士的說法，許多美國的要求，其實對馬國政府來說，都是『碰觸紅線』，大馬調降美國關稅稅率的談判，恐怕是困難重重。
