伊朗外交部長納西爾扎德在以伊衝突後，赴中國參加上合組織防長會議。事實上，中俄在本次衝突中都力挺伊朗。外界關注的是，俄中在中亞地區的勢力消長：對中國而言，此舉旨在抗衡美國、以色列及波斯灣國家；對俄羅斯而言，則借助上合組織制衡中國在中亞的影響力。儘管俄中在某些議題上互為競爭對手，但在利用該組織對抗美國方面，仍屬合作關係。
