白宮證實，美國總統川普將出席本月底在荷蘭舉行的北大西洋公約組織（NATO）峰會。不過同時，美國國防部也傳出計畫，將格陵蘭島的軍事指揮權，從歐洲司令部轉移至負責北美防衛的北方司令部，以加強與格陵蘭的戰略連結。此舉引發丹麥及其他北約盟友的憂慮。
