隨著人工智慧等高科技普及，對電力需求不斷攀升，許多國家再度將目光投向核能，例如積極研發小型模組化反應爐（SMR）。不過，也有科技大廠因應迫切用電需求，直接投入傳統大型核電廠的發展。以微軟為例，去年便與星座能源公司簽署電力採購協議，購買美國賓州三哩島核電廠的電力。儘管如此，此舉背後仍存在不少憂慮聲音。
