如果來到日本東北地區的仙台，絕不能錯過的美食就是「牛舌」了。當地的牛舌特別肥厚鮮美，而且非常聞名。 據說，二戰後牛舌在日本被廣泛食用。當時，美軍在日本駐軍，日本人開始食用美軍留下的牛舌，如今成為仙台當地的招牌菜，不只有烤牛舌、牛舌定食、牛舌拉麵等等，都令人食指大動。
