國家發生百年大地震的時候，緬甸軍政府竟然還忙著丟炸彈。有外媒爆料，28日強震後不到3小時，軍政府就出動戰機轟炸北部的反抗軍。這馬上引來聯合國關注，痛批緬軍「令人憤慨、無法接受」。而另一方面，反軍方的緬甸影子政府「全國團結」，則是在強震後隔天，就宣布停止攻擊行動甚至還出動大象協助救災。
