受強烈寒流影響，日本近期遭遇大規模強降雪，降雪量達最高值，尤其是日本海一側積雪迅速增加。由於大雪持續，日本當局提醒民眾嚴防道路結冰導致路面濕滑，同時，豪雪已引發多起山崩事故，目前已確認 3 人不幸罹難。
