近期中國海軍，兩艘航空母艦「遼寧號」和「山東號」，同時出現在日本沖繩和南鳥島外海，進行海空聯演，引起日本自衛隊和美軍高度關注，因為這不但是中國航艦，第一次進入日本經濟區海域，也是首次進入「第二島鏈」。分析認為此舉有牽制美國的意圖，似乎意圖在作戰時箝制美軍支援艦隊。
