印度政府於2日宣布新的電動車政策：若外國車廠在印度投資5億美元設廠，則可將目前70%的電動車進口關稅降至15%。此舉旨在吸引國際車廠在當地建立生產基地。不過，印度一位聯邦部長已表示，特斯拉暫無意在印度設廠。相反地，賓士、福斯、現代與起亞等競爭對手均表達了高度興趣。
