Show Notes
A woman from Newbury, Berkshire, endured a six-year wait to claim her late fathers £2,000 Premium Bonds. Despite providing all necessary details, NS and I initially denied the accounts existence. After weeks of silence, they acknowledged the bonds in 2024 and processed the payout last month. Tracy McGuire-Brown, the daughter, expressed distress, especially after receiving a letter suggesting the money go toward debts or funeral costs. NS and I, backed by the Treasury, is now reviewing over 34 million customer records following similar failures. Up to 37,500 customers could be affected, with as much as £476 million in unclaimed deposits. The agency plans to contact those estates directly.
