Show Notes

Amrit Lal, a Hindu community leader in Edinburgh, passed away at 93. Born in Punjab, he overcame poverty and Partition to build the citys first Hindu temple. Arriving in Scotland in 1952, he and his wife Saroj opened shops for South Asians, facing prejudice. Amrit led the Mandirs establishment in 1989, and with Saroj, set up Ganga Ghat for ash immersions. His legacy of worship, culture, and unity endures in Edinburgh, where his and Sarojs ashes rest.
