Give Me Back My... the Podcast

From the desk of Pete: What do you do when you rebrand a long running podcast that has a damn good following? In the case of the dummies over at Give Me Back, you do nothing until 10 minutes before the semi-official launch. Normally in the podcasting world, the hosts of the show will meet to brainstorm and spitball the new direction and hit the ground running with a polished show and new bits. Over at Give Me Back, not so much. As my Pappy always said "you can't spit-shine fecal matter"...wait..."bedazzle your excrement"...no that's not right..."polish your poop"...that was close...."rub out a"...oop...I better stop before Charlie puts me in double secret probation again. That said, the show is going through some growing pains with the exception of the film we picked. Maverick (1994) is the dictionary definition of nostalgic entertainment and the fellas gush over all the memories this film bubbles to the surface. Whether you've seen the film or not, go watch it. It holds up and will have you grinning from ear to ear.

What do you do when there's 5 Tuesdays in a month on a show that's scheduled for 4?!!! You throw together a badass crew and cover movies with absolute raw horsepower and testosterone!! That's right welcome to Give Me Back My - Need 4 Speed. This month Charlie, Mickey and Parker drop the hammer and cover one of the great classics Days of Thunder. We get into our love of 80s-90s Nascar, Tom Cruise doing no wrong, and discuss just how much fun this movie really is. So sit down, buckle up and hold on for the first episode of GMBMN4S!!!!!!

Board not hit back...but B-ACTION does! It's the final round of Mickey's March Madness and we're up against our toughest opponent yet, Bruce Lee in 1973's Enter the Dragon! With a deadly martial arts tournament, revenge, espionage, and so much more rolled up into one film we needed some backup from special guests Sean and Joe from Movie Dumpster! Iconic Bruce Lee moments and awesome fight choreography raise the bar for the Kung Fu movie craze of the 70s, with this film introducing Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Bolo Yueng to American audiences. Speaking of Americans, John Saxon and Jim Kelly bring the charisma and the kicks! There's something for everyone in this movie and it can't be denied the influence it had on the future of pop culture and film, from Mortal Kombat to Austin Powers to Balls of Fury! Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!

Are you ready for round 3? WHAT?! I said are you ready for round 3? If you wanna see Stone Cold whip The Condemned’s asses in an island battle royale, give me a HELL YEAH! A bunch of idiots thought it would be a million dollar idea to put The Rattlesnake on the World Wide Web and stream a death match for every sorry sumbitch in the world to see, but it doesn't matter if it's that big bastard Nathan Jones or that limey bastard Vinnie Jones, Stone Cold is gonna stomp a mud hole in ‘em and walk it dry! I got a stunner for everyone of these assholes and that's the bottom line…because STONE COLD SAID SO! Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!!

Tonight, on After Hours Cinema: An innocent, aspiring young starlet comes to Hollywood to make it big. Along the way, she falls in love with an amnesiac, hires a contract killer, finds her own dead body, becomes a vagrant and maybe a hooker, lands a huge part in a movie and has an emotional experience at an opera. All of this and many more confusing, yet highly entertaining, weirdness brought to you from the mind of David Lynch.

We're moving on to the 2nd round of Mickey's March Madness and our next competitor is raising the bar from its predecessor…1993’s Best of the Best 2! The violence gets cranked up to 11 as Tommy, Alex, and Travis get in over their heads with a silver tongued Wayne Newton who is leading them to slaughter at the hands of the mighty BRAKUS!!! The lore runs deep, the bodies pile up, and now Tommy is a Native American?...and his uncle is Sonny Landham!? This one gets wild in all the best ways as things heat up in the month of March! Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!

Mickey's March Madness kicks off with a doozy! MORTAL KOMBAT!!!... Annihilation. I know, you may be asking yourself “Why do the sequel?”, well, because it's MADNESS, THAT'S WHY! We all know this one took a turn for the worst: No Christopher Lambert. No Lindon Ashby. No Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa…BUT, we do get an upgrade for Sonya Blade as well as some badass Lin Kuei Cyborg Assassins and a number of other badass characters! Yes the silly factor is cranked up and yes the acting is terrible and yes the CGI is awful, but dudes…it's MORTAL KOMBAT! Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!

Friends, we've hit a nostalgia ceiling that I'm not sure we can ever eclipse. Equal? Probably, but never exceed. I honestly don't remember a time in my life when Batman wasn't around. The earliest memories of my grandfather are playing Batman with him on a rusty swing set. Mickey and Charlie share similar stories as we cover Batman 1989. Well...I say cover...we talk more about Batman memories than we do the film. Please join the three of us as we take a walk down a long nostalgic road and a little bit of movie talk.

Derek from Bad Movies, Worse People joins us to talk Karate cops looking to take down a gang of high end car thieves led by David Carradine!
