En septemberdag i 1936 våknet folk på gårdene i Lodalen til et tordnende brak. Smellet kom fra Ramnefjellet. En stor del av fjellet falt ned i Loenvatnet, og snart reiste det seg en kolossal bølge, på 70 meter, som kom rett mot land.
Dødsbølgen i Lodalen i 1936 ble en av de største naturkatastrofene i norsk historie.
