Maeve McCarthy from Presentation Secondary School in Thurles has made it to the national finals of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. Shes one of 100 finalists from 56 schools across 20 counties. The event, run by the ADAPT Centre, tests problem-solving skills to decode unknown languages. Results are due soon, and sample puzzles are available online. The Olympiad has reached 60,000 students over 18 years, promoting STEM confidence.
