Families in Sligo and Leitrim, without a key child and adolescent mental health service for kids with intellectual disabilities, have been left struggling. Local councillor Declan Bree has been raising this issue for years, labeling it as discrimination by the Health Service Executive. Recently, a consultant psychiatrist and a clinical nurse started a new team, but its still far from the full multidisciplinary group needed. Bree plans to push for more details and better support for these families at the next forum.
