Experience a fresh, inclusive take on Romeo and Juliet at Hawks Well Theatre in Sligo this May 22nd. Starring over 20 young actors with intellectual disabilities, this one-hour production combines creativity, shadow puppetry, music, and projections. Co-written and co-directed by Isabel Claffey and Sinéad O’Donnell Carey, the play is led by producer Maeve McGowan and Shine coordinator Thomas Pitts. The Shine Programme, launched in 2023, empowers adults with intellectual disabilities through theatre. Funding from Rethink Ireland made this dream project possible. Tickets are €10 plus fees.
