Mona McSharry, an Olympic swimmer from Grange, County Sligo, is set to receive the Freedom of County Sligo on April fourteenth. Shes the second local to earn this honor, following Christopher ODonnell. McSharrys standout achievement was winning a bronze medal for Ireland in the breaststroke at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Shes represented Ireland at two Olympic Games and five World Aquatic Championships, inspiring young swimmers in the region. McSharry has also won numerous medals and competed for the University of Tennessee in the US. Her familys success in Irelands Fittest Family competition in 2019 adds to their local fame.
