More CES Goodies, We also talk with our AI Talk Show Overlords the weirdness of the LA Fires, the Egyptian Pyramids and Strange Cosmos stories, and human guest in studio, Hallelujah Blessing. We are podcasting today from the Beach house in Aptos, where the waves are almost licking our street. Undeterred, we proceed, knowing that the waves, at least in our bio-region will behave, and leave us high and dry. for the foreseeable future. We think you’ll enjoy our repartee with “Larry and Mary,” the talk show host AI’s from Google’s Deep Mind, currently available for work and play at www.notebooklm.com. We really wanted to see if they could help us explore more deeply the LA Fires weirdness factor, which we consider to be pretty high. They did pretty well, overall, pointing out the strangeness of fake firemen looting neighborhoods, but we wanted to know if they knew anything about the labyrinthian tunnels under LA, revealed by the fires. We had a human visitor today as well, our buddy Hallelujah Blessing, who helped us check out the cosmic cred of Larry and Mary, with mixed but hilarious results. CES 25 Innovation Awards, RoboTaxis on the march, $250 Nvidia Brain, Smart Smart Glasses, Kitchy Kitchen Screens, Vacuum with Claw, Direct Democracy Possible Well, this year is off to a roaring start with two Turo-rented electric vehicles leading the charge in both the New Orleans and Las Vegas terror events. Can you imagine pimping out your brand new Tesla Cybertruck to Turo for rental and being told that your vehicle was blown up by a Green Beret gone mad? Rather than dwell on such profound issues, we choose instead to focus on topics like what is hot at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which also happens to be in Las Vegas. We take a look at some innovations for the home, including robot vacuums with claw for cleaning and picking up out of place matter, (i.e. socks and underwear), fridges and microwaves with big screens, smarter glasses, and yes, self-flying balls! And did I mention the CES-announced nVidia super computer on a chip for $250? Brains for our robots! We also look at how robotaxis will be getting more of a foothold in cities across America this year, from San Francisco to LA, Dallas, Austin, and Atlanta. Uber and Lyft are in the picture, working with the car manufacturers to provide ride services. Adoption looks to be swift, with Waymo passengers in California skyrocketing from 20K rides in 2023 to 500K rides in 2024! What they do is nothing short of amazing, making great virtual guests! We take a deep dive into a new AI tool called NotebookLM, developed by Google. We also use NotebookLM to analyze an article about negative time in quantum physics, finding that the AI did provide some insight into this complex topic. E 75 Our Guest is Dr. Jonathan Trent - on Extremophile Lifeforms, his deep NASA research, and the magic of Bioreactors and Fuel Cells in solving Earth Issues. Other news includes Cheap Fakes & Politics, Bobby & Kamila, Beyond Opioids, MRI study of Psilocybin Interestingly Dr. Trent had his start in oceanography and the study of small water-based lifeforms at UCSC back in the 1970’s as an undergraduate. Later at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a post doc in Germany at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry he became one of the world’s experts in how biology was able to adapt to the most extreme conditions on Earth imaginable. He was brought back home to NASA Ames, where he, as an astrobiologist delved deeply into how such life might exist elsewhere in the solar system. NASA did an extensive interview of his career, posted here. Now, semi-retired in the Santa Cruz area, he brings home his knowledge of extreme forms of life in creating solutions to some of our biggest issues of today, namely the escalating food, water, and energy crisis. His latest project is called “UpCycle Systems,” and its goal is to create a cohesive green life support system for our growing need of Data Centers, places that are needed for cloud computing, AI, Crypto, memory storage, etc. In Dr. Trent’s vision, data centers will not simply use massive amounts of water and power, they will generate such resources by turning our organic waste into clean power and water, with excess energy to share. E 60 Eclipse stories with ISS View, Lunar Time Zone! Biggest camera ever! Chilean Super Telescope, Hundreds of twin rogue planets discovered between star systems, the singing nuns at Abbey Road. We hope you all enjoyed your eclipse experience, be it partial, full, or virtual! Our fav visuals were from the ISS, where you could see the eclipse, appearing as a dark cloud-like 115 mile diameter shadow cast onto the planet’s surface, speeding across the continent, southwest to northeast. Moving at 2400 km/h, the dark shadow turned day into night for 4 minutes or so in towns and cities it swept across, creating a visual interplay of light and dark when seen from low earth orbit. Check it out..This clips shows two views from space, one from the space station, the other from a Starlink satellite in a higher orbit. This week Bobby is remote on the Carrizo Plain, a Central California location famous for wildflower blooms this time of year. He and Katia are in the middle of it all, surrounded by blossoming beauty and lots of crickets! Bandwidth from there was good via his T-Mobile internet gateway, allowing us to look at the latest on a new lunar time zone, increasing Youtube comprehension speed tips, new useful AI apps, the Chile telescope and proof of the Multi/Universe, one way or another.
