VISITORS: Jeff Meldrum
EThis episode results from a chance meeting at a gas station in the middle of nowhere that seems to bolster theories of synchronicity, simulation theory, or some other strange order to the universe. Kelly has the incredible opportunity to speak with Dr. Jeff Meldrum, arguably the foremost expert on the topic of a possible mystery primate commonly referred to as Bigfoot. As a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology with a Ph.D. in Anatomical Sciences and extensive research on the emergence of modern human bipedalism, his evaluation of footprint evidence, in particular, is difficult to ignore. In the words of Skeptic Brian Dunning, "The work of responsible scientists like Dr. Meldrum is exactly what true skeptics should be asking the Bigfoot community for, not criticizing him for it." In Kelly's most in-depth interview to date, Dr. Meldrum discusses possible reasons we have not found a sasquatch body, explains why most DNA analysis has not yet given conclusive findings, provides an in-depth analysis of the Patterson-Gimlin film, and explains where research should head in the future in order to maximize the odds of solving this centuries-old mystery. Even the most Sam-and-Byron-like listeners will enjoy the scientific and objective analysis provided by one of The Captain's academic heroes. Want even more? A Conversation with...Lupita Nyong'o
ELupita Nyong'o is the new face(s) of horror. As the leading ladies in Jordan Peele's deeply unsettling new film 'Us,' Nyong'o lurches and rasps her way into the company of the genre's most complex and chilling antagonists. In conversation with Sam and Jaimee, Academy Award-winner (and generally incredible human) Nyong'o discusses her revolutionary twin roles in this ground- and record-breaking shocker, her research into Spasmodic Dysphonia (the condition that informed Red's already-infamous voice), her "horror homework", and playing "the Other." *MILD SPOILERS FOR 'US'* Check out our two new original shows ("It's Been a Weird Week" and "A Conversation With...") exclusively on Brew! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/brew-podcasts/id1451868575 Want even more? A Conversation With…Rory Culkin
EIn the early 90's, an unsettling genre of music took a more physical turn. Churches were burned and blood was shed, further stigmatizing the community. We don't often talk biopics on Frightday, and it's even more rare to discuss them with the actors who take on these factual roles. This week we were lucky enough to talk 'Lords of Chaos' with its star Rory Culkin (Scream 4, Intruders, Castle Rock). Want more? Support us at http://patreon.com/frightday at the $4 level or above.
