Jeff McNeil, a former Nipomo High School star, joins the Oakland Athletics after eight years with the New York Mets. Known for his solid batting average and a batting title in 2022, McNeil is excited for a fresh start with the As, who will play in Sacramento this year before moving to Las Vegas in 2028. McNeils unconventional path to the majors, including a focus on golf in high school, led to a twelfth-round draft pick by the Mets in 2013.
