Show Notes

Crews in Fresno are embarking on a significant new phase of the High-Speed Rail project, hoisting massive pre-cast concrete girders to construct the future roadway deck over the Shaw Avenue overpass. Starting this week, Tutor-Perini and Zachry Parsons teams will drop five girders daily, with thirty-six needed for the superstructure. These girders, stretching over one hundred fifty feet and weighing more than one hundred sixty-five thousand pounds each, will be trucked in fresh each day. Once completed, this four hundred fifty-seven-foot-long, one hundred ten-foot-wide span will safely lift cars over Golden State Boulevard, Union Pacific tracks, and incoming high-speed lines, eliminating the risky at-grade crossing. This project is one of nearly thirty active sites across the Central Valley, with the rail authority already completing fifty-nine finished structures in the first one hundred nineteen miles, bringing the network closer to reality.
