Fresno Unified School District Settles Age Bias Lawsuit with Nurses for $1.75M
Three nurses, Joni Kolb, Janell Beamon, and Heidi Sagaser, filed a lawsuit against the district in 2024, alleging age bias after losing a promotion to a younger candidate. The district denied fault but agreed to a settlement of $1.75M, to be paid in two installments. The nurses also raised concerns about disability discrimination and retaliation. Sagaser and Beamon will remain on paid administrative leave until their retirement in June, while Kolb has already retired. The district has not commented on the resolution.
