In September 1980, a brutal triple homicide at Frans Market in Fresno shocked the community. The victims, Byron Schletewitz, Josephine Rocha, and Douglas White, were shot execution-style by parolee Billy Ray Hamilton, acting on orders from Clarence Ray Allen, who was imprisoned at the time. The crime was a chilling act of revenge against Schletewitz and his father for testifying against Allen in a previous murder trial. After a lengthy trial, Allen was convicted and sentenced to death, becoming Californias oldest inmate executed in 2006.
