Enron Whistleblower Sherron Watkins
Sherron Watkins is the whistleblower who exposed corporate misconduct in the Enron scandal. In the summer of 2001, she warned Enron’s chairman, Kenneth Lay, the company’s methods of accounting were improper. She, along with two other whistleblowers, was named Time Persons of the Year in 2002. In today’s Fraud in America episode, she discusses her story, why the SEC Whistleblower Program is so important, and her life after whistleblowing. Sherron Watkins is currently an Executive-in-Residence at the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University.
