Reading the New Covenant (or the Old) without context or having even a light understanding of the culture of the time, can leave you scratching your head over some of the things people did. Some people feel that way about Jesus as well. It's easy to think that the men of the Bible must have been paragons of virtue and perfection, but when we read the Bible we quickly discover that nothing could be further from the truth.
