Show Notes

Dr Emily Fairfax is an ecohydrologist. She is an expert in beavers and describes them as rockstars in climate mitigation.

Beavers are nature’s wetland creators, providing natural solution to droughts, wildfire risk as well as well as floods while also providing huge natural stores of carbon.

You will probably be as surprised as we were to find out that before human’s fully settled in North America the landscape was unrecognisable from the one we know today. There was a vast network of waterways with a beaver population of about 400 million, today they are trying to regrow they beaver population to between 10 and m 40 million.

There are so many amazing nuggets of information and after listening through you will find out where to find a beaver meadow and what a fossil beaver dam is.

We are sure you will leave this episode as a fan of beavers!
