Show Notes

In 2018 Akwasi Frimpong became first black male Olympian to compete in skeleton, and the second athlete ever to represent Ghana in the Olympic winter games. He was the junior national champion sprinter in the Netherlands and a scholarship college athlete in the US as a sprinter. Evolving his explosive talent and speed he joined the Olympic bobsled team again with the Netherlands, but just missed the 2014 games. Now at age 35 Akwasi was poised to compete in Beijing, but the pandemic got in his way. His story is one of the complexity of navigating the global community in pursuit of a better life, education, and a dream. From Ghana to the Netherlands and on to the US, he overcame many barriers and never gave up. You'll be inspired by Akwasi Frimpong. Part two of a two part episode.
