“Bum-Whoopin” OTT@PIT 03-20-23

“Bum-Whoopin” OTT@PIT 03-20-23 Igor Shesterkin stood on his head Saturday night, yes he did. But that doesn’t explain the final score at MSG on March 18th, which was a 6-0 shutout by the Rangers over the Pittsburgh Penguins. In fact, the Penguins had a significant edge in high-danger chances and XGs. But some bad bounces, a great performance from a very good net minder in Shesterkin, and a handful of non-calls by the officials on duty, were the real culprits that lead to the final tally. Now, with Marcus Pettersson placed on the LTIR retroactive to Saturday night, PIT’s decimated D-corps - already short Jeff Petry, Dmitry Kulikov, and Jan Rutta - will strain to defend the Penguin blue line. How those defensemen fare, both tonight and in the coming games, will decide whether the Penguins teeter or totter, precariously balanced as they are on the brink. The stakes: Succeed and secure a 17th consecutive opportunity to compete for Lord Stanley’s coveted Cup. Crack under the pressure of a depleted roster, and scrappy teams like the Isles and Panthers will gladly leave you in their rear view mirrors. Thank you for listening!! Follow us on Twitter @penspod // @penspod_JT (Jeff) @fidgenewton (Jordan) Enjoy tonight's Penguins home game versus the Senators … AND of COURSE: LETS GO PENS!! JEFF TAYLOR + JORDAN DEFIGIO
