「寵物」是被寵、受寵的動物，是主人的心肝寶貝，是家人，甚至可能比家人更重要。然而這份「寵」與「愛」的動力，來自甚麼？主人對寵物的愛，會否投射了自己的需要，譬如想寵物滿足自己對忠誠、愛慕、陪伴、依戀等的渴求？
主人選擇養寵物，可說是操縱了寵物的生殺大權，彼此之間的主次、高低關係，是否一種權力操控？反映著人與自然共生、共依存的狀態嗎？
