Show Notes

You will want to hear this conversation between Mighty Pete and the one and only Regina Huber: a woman who spent much of her professional life in corporate management, and who has transitioned into being a career coach for women who want to make bigger gains in their own professions. Regina is certified in various training methods, has created, and founded her own training courses, published a best-selling book, and has been the featured speaker at several conferences. Beyond achieving irrefutable career success, she has forged her own path, and understands how important it is for each of us to live the lives that we were destined for. She shares with Mighty Pete how she figured out what life she was supposed to live, how to turn challenges into advantages, and how to fill your life with the passion that will drive you.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When she was starting out, Regina did not really have a role model for who she wanted to be, so she found one: herself. She understands that everyone’s goals are different and connects with each of her clients on their level, to adapt her teaching skills to their unique vision.
  • Her business model and public speaking are both very connected to heart. That is the path towards success and a more spiritual fulfillment.
  • Always be learning and have a “beginner’s mindset”. This can be applied to both Huber’s business and personal life (she finds great satisfaction in speaking to in-person audiences, but has had to adapt since Covid; also, she does not consider herself a great dancer but tries to dance four times a week). Being flexible and open-minded attracts joy into your life.
  • She has had a unique and interesting life, led without much of a template – but she wants to change that and provide a formula for those people who may want to live a peripatetic life like hers. Giving back to the community is a big part of personal integrity.

BEST MOMENTS

  • “I always tell my coaching clients that…we will be working on situations, specific situations, so in this sense the coaching is situational – but whatever you learn through those situations, as we go through them, that will help you transform, so then you take it with you for the rest of your life.”
  • “I believe when I (lived) my most painful experience, I did not follow my intuition, I did not really listen to my heart. I wanted to do this – the collaboration with that person was probably the easy way out to not doing it on my own.”
  • “The biggest part of leadership is trust-building. We have to be able to build trust in all directions. … (Leaders) need to be transparent, they have to have integrity, they have to be courageous…. They want to lead by example, not by words.”
  • “I think most of us want to make an impact in our own ways. There are so many ways to make an impact, we don’t have to have the spotlight.”

ABOUT THE GUEST

Regina Huber was born in a small farming town in Germany, but her adventuring spirit has taken her to five different continents through her work in the corporate world. She has lived and worked in the U.S., Spain, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as stints back in Germany. Her transition to becoming a professional career coach was gradual and natural. With a natural flair for public speaking and direct connection with her audience, Regina specializes in helping women in mid-level positions in their own careers achieve their next level of success. Beyond being a career coach, Regina is a best-selling author, nomad, and founder of her own teaching practicum: Transform Your Performance. Although she is back on the road again for now, she and her business are currently based in New York.
