The Mechanics of Borders follows a young man whose quiet, isolated life is disrupted when he’s asked to retrieve his estranged sister from the U.S. The unexpected journey through the southern U.S. becomes a backdrop for reopening old wounds. The film deals with absence, resentment, and the fragile attempt to rebuild a broken bond, from a childhood marked by absence and emotional fracture. Guests are actress Sophie Fekete, who stars as Heidi, the sister, and the film's director Hubert Caron‑Guay. The Mechanics of Borders will be screened during the Cinequest Film Festival.
