The History Channel is set to premiere a two-night documentary event titled "Sitting Bull" on May 27 and May 28 at 9/8c. This four-hour film explores the life and legacy of Sitting Bull, the revered Hunkpapa Lakota leader, through reenactments, historical analysis, and Native perspectives. The documentary is executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and features Lakota actor Michael Spears in the role of Sitting Bull. Mo Brings Plenty narrates the series, which aims to present an authentic portrait of the legendary figure. The film is part of HISTORY Honors 250, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Viewers can expect a powerful retelling of Sitting Bull’s spiritual leadership, resistance against U.S. expansion, and his lasting impact on Native history.
