Author 'Why We Cook' & Director of 'Country of Hotels' films
Director Julio Maria film 'Country of Hotels,' tells the stories of the desperate souls who pass through the doors of 508, a room on the fifth floor of an anonymous, decaying hotel. We are taken on a surreal and blackly comic journey down its lonely corridors and behind its out-dated furnishings and stained surfaces. The story plunges us into the ever-turning carousel of haunted lives who check in and check out of the establishment. The film recently premiered at the Manchester Film Festival in England. In honor of March being International Women’s Month, author/artist Lindsay Gardner has released the new book WHY WE COOK: Women on Food, Identity, and Connection - 112 women restauranteurs, activists, food writers, professional chefs, and home cooks tell stories, share recipes, and are inspiring change in the world of food.
