Summary:
Scarlett and Melanie anxiously await casualty lists after the Battle of Gettysburg. Ashley comes to Atlanta during his Christmas furlough and shares a kiss with Scarlett prior to departure. Scarlett is shocked to learn that Melanie is pregnant. Ashley is taken prisoner by the Yankees and refuses an opportunity to be released.
