In this Fiber for Breakfast, Bobby Gonzalez, Principal Executive Officer/Chairman of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Caddo Communication Enterprises will share informative information related to federally recognized tribes and the push related to broadband in Indian Country under the American Rescue Plan Act. This act provides investment into infrastructure in broadband to provide access to high-quality broadband service in Indian Country into the millions and up to one source of funding that includes $1Billion. These new sources of tribal broadband funding are to assist in mitigating the effects of COVID-19 pandemic which is exacerbating the digital divide across the United States related to Native American communities.

In this Fiber for Breakfast, New Street Research's Managing Partner, Jonathan Chaplin, will provide thoughts on how value will be created through the deal both within assets sold to Apollo and those retained by Lumen. He will explain how his firm thinks there is a good amount of new fiber investment coming to both sets of assets, and both companies will create value by turning copper into fiber if they execute effectively, but one will create more value than the other.

With the decline of pay-TV, traditional home services bundles have steadily declined over the past seven years. As a result, the penetration of stand-alone internet service is increasing, jumping from 34% in 2017 to 42% in 2021. Service providers have relied on bundles to attract new subscribers, increase consumer loyalty (and thus lifetime value), and differentiate from competitors. With bundling in decline, service providers turn to new value-added services to play these critical roles.
