Auto-generated transcript:My brothers and sisters, listen to this. We continue with the list of the checklist that Ibrahim A.A. gave to the people of Basra when they asked him why their dua is not accepted. And we are on the sixth of the ten reasons that he gave. And he, in the sixth reason, he said, you say that you fear Jahannam. You say that you fear the Hellfire, you fear Jahannam. But you do not flee from it. You do not run away from it. Now, one of the things that happened in Islam, and there's a whole history behind it which I won't go into now, is this false belief that there is no need to fear Allah. The fear of Allah is not like the fear of anything else. Because when a person fears something, they seek to run away from it, escape from it. You can't run away from Allah for any reason in any way. The fear of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the fear of offending. The fear to offend, the fear to disobey, the fear to displease the one we love the most. This is at the highest level. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَشَدُّوا فَلِلَّهِ Very the believers are those who love Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala more than anyone or anything else. And therefore, at the highest level, the muddaki is the one who fears to offend the one he loves the most, and that is Allah. But however, there is also, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala described himself and described his punishments. In Allah, Allah said, وَشَدِدُوا لِخَابٍ Who was Ali ul-Adhar? So there is no running away from that. And therefore, it's also the fear of disobeying the one who has the power to inflict severe punishment if he wishes. And we ask Allah to protect us from that. Now there are two main reasons why Muslims disobey. And this is a very important thing because you're not talking about here, what people, who don't believe in Allah at all. That's a different issue. Alhamdulillah, we believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We don't deny Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We are not falling into kufr. But we disobey. And that is two reasons. One, we have become and made ourselves the slaves of our desires. Instead of being Ibadullah, we are Ibadul Hawa. We are the slaves of our desires. Number one. And number two, may Allah protect us from ourselves. إِلَّا مَشَاءَ اللَّهُ Except those who Allah has mercy on, we lack faith in the Akhil. We do not have yakin in the Akhil. We believe in it at an intellectual level. But we do not have yakin in the Akhil. We believe in the Akhil. But we do not have yakin in the Akhil. But we do not have yakin in the Akhil. Now that borders on disbelief. I remind myself, I knew that the biggest strength of the Sahaba, Ridwar and the Alayhi Majma'in, was that they took the word of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala literally. If Allah said something in a certain way, that is how they understood it. And that is how they treated it. That is how they responded to it. That is why, for example, we are so many people, we are so many instances of the Sahaba asking, Ya Rasulullah, are there dates in Jannah? What is the size of that fruit in Jannah? Literally. They are not saying, Oh, Jannah is, you know, it's a good thought. There is a share that comes to mind which I won't interrupt. The only other person here who understands Urdu poetry is sitting here and telling, He and I share these things. He and I share these things. He and I share these things. And he is piling because he knows the share. But I won't talk about that here. But the point I'm saying is, Jannah is not a nice concept. It is real. The Sahaba took it as real. When Rasulullah said, He said, In Jannah, some of you will have palaces which float in the air. The question they asked him was, Ya Rasulullah, how will we enter that palace? Think about this. They didn't say, How will it float in the air? How can the palace float in the air? They didn't ask that question. He is saying, The palace floats in the air. We accept that. We believe that. That's not the question. The question is, Okay, now if it's for me, How do I get in there? Literal belief. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, You will enter it like a bird enters its nest by flying. Now this reality of belief enabled them to work for Jannah. That is why we have, For example, the story of Abu Dahad al-Ansar Ghazal Anu, Which I have mentioned to you many times before, So I won't say it now. But a man who goes and gives his entire dead garden, Plus house, plus well, plus the works, Away for one tree in Jannah. Rasulullah said, One tree in Jannah. Right? He's giving up something concrete. He had the most valuable piece of realistic, Real estate in Madinah at the time. He gave it away. Sold it for one single tree in Jannah. It's a beautiful story. I've said it many times before. Those of you who haven't heard it, Come for the Isha Khatera, For the Maghrib Khatera. Ask me, I'll tell you. Question is, How does a person do that? He made himself homeless. One decision. He made his whole family homeless. That was their home. They lived there. They gave it away. How did they do that? Not only that, When he goes and informs his wife, I've just made you homeless. I've just sold all of this, To Rasulullah . She said, For how much? He says, For one tree in Jannah. She didn't say, You're insane. You're crazy. What kind of, What deal is that? One tree in Jannah? No. No. She said, SubhanAllah, What a bargain. She said, Alhamdulillah, What a bargain. Wow, What a bargain. She's telling her husband, You are the most wisest person. You are the best person on earth. You made this beautiful bargain. Right? Seriously, Sometimes I read these stories, Wallahi, These are true stories. I have to remind myself, Pinch myself and say, Is it real? Am I reading some fairy tales? They were people like this? They actually were people like this? When there are people like me today? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Reveals Quran and says, The one who deals in interest, Accepted declaration of war, From Allah and his Rasool. Quran. Alhamdulillah, If it's a Hadith, We accept all the Sahih Hadiths of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. There's no, I'm not trying to, But I'm saying this is Quran. There is nothing in Islam, Which is beyond and above, The ayah of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's Kalam. Allah declares, And Allah did not say, It is okay for the first house in America. It's okay for a student loan. It is okay if you don't have a car, You need a car, Go buy. No. No. But we do all of this. First house, second house, I like a house, I don't like a house, I do this, I do that. I borrow an interest. I know people who borrow an interest to buy television sets. For God's sake. How? How? Because, It is not real. It is not real. The same ayat of the Quran, Which is prohibiting, Imagine, You know, In Urdu we say, If you want to fight, Fight with your own people. They don't even want to fight with Allah. You want to fight, Go fight somebody your size man. You want to fight with Allah? Declaration of war. What do you call, The two parties in a wall? Friends? Or enemies? So if I'm accepting a declaration of war from Allah, What does it make me with regard to Allah? Friend or enemy? Wali of Allah, Or Adoo Allah? Think about this. By definition, The moment you said, La ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah, You became a Wali of Allah. Not my fatwa. Allah mentioned this in the Quran. Allah said, Alladhina amanu wa kaanu yattaqun. Ala inna awliya'Allahi la khawfun alayhim walahum yahzanun. Truly, For the awliya of Allah, For the Wali of Allah, For the one who, There is no direct translation of the word Wali in English, So people use the word friend, But please understand, There is no friendship between Allah and the makhluk. Allah is Khaliq, We are makhluk. But in that extent, With His glory and majesty in mind, The Wali of Allah is the one that Allah loves, The favorite slave of Allah. So Allah says, Ala inna awliya'Allahi la khawfun alayhim walahum yahzanun. I will not go into the grammar of, Why Allah and then why inna after that and so on. That is a different thing. But the Wali of Allah, Ina after that and so on. That is a different issue. It just emphasizes and reemphasizes this point. Allah said for them there is no khawf and there is no fear. La khawfun alayhim walahum yahzanun. And there is no sadness. Fear with respect to the future, Sadness with respect to the past. Allah said for the Wali of Allah, Nothing. Then who are they? This is the beauty of the Quran. Allah does not leave anything in doubt. Thalika al-kitabu al-arayba fee. It is a kitab. It is a book in which there is no doubt. For hidaa for whom? Hudal lil muttaqeen. For the one who has the love of Allah, For the khashiat of Allah, The fear of Allah in his heart. For him there is hidaa. So who are the Waliya? Alladheena amanu wa kaanu yattaquna. Allah said the one who said, La ilaha illa Allah. The one who has iman and the one who has taqwa. What is taqwa? Taqwa is the concern that I must not displease Allah. Iman is having faith in Allah. Now Allah in his mercy, He did not say iman and taqwa equal to that of the Rasool or equal to that of the Khulafa Rashideen or equal to that of this one or that. No, Allah said who has iman, who has taqwa, May Allah include all of us who are here in this masjid and all our families and all those who are not here and all the Muslims among them. All of them default setting Wali of Allah. Even if you have an atom's worth of iman and atom's worth of taqwa, InshaAllah you are Wali of Allah. Right? What does that mean? It means that no matter whatever you do and don't do as long as you're not committing kufr and shirk and so forth. When you go before Allah there is some hope. You say, Ya Allah please forgive me. I am your Wali. You told me I have a little bit of iman. What to do? I only had this much. Ya Allah forgive me. There is hope for that. Right? Now you take this out and you got some advisor and you got God knows who that shaitan in human form
