Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. Alhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ala Rasoolullah ﷺ, wa baad, my brothers and sisters, Ramadan is the month of giving. We know the Sahaba said that Rasoolullah ﷺ was known for his generosity. We know how generous he was. And we said that he was in Ramadan, he would become so generous that he would become like a beautiful wind that is coming full of, laden with water. Something is so generous, he would give and give and give. Let us become people who give. Most people pay the Zakat in Ramadan, Alhamdulillah. Zakat can be paid at any time of the year, but Ramadan we pay, we ask Allah to enhance the reward. Please understand that there are two conditions of Zakat. The first condition is that if you are sahib ul nisaab, and check the nisaab in your country, if you are the sahib ul nisaab, if you have enough gold or silver or money for the nisaab and more, then you have to pay Zakat, on that entire wealth, at the rate of 2.5% for silver, gold and money. And then if it is agricultural produce and so on, it is 10%. So you pay Zakat if you have the nisaab. And you pay this to somebody who does not have nisaab. Zakat cannot just be paid to any situation, to any institution or something. It has to be paid to the individual who is eligible to receive Zakat, and that would be somebody who does not have the nisaab. The condition of Zakat is that even if you give it to an institution, you have institutions who take Zakat from you and they disburse it. No problem with giving it to them. But please understand, it is your responsibility to ensure that the money goes to the final recipient, who must be somebody who does not have the nisaab. And then this money, this amount must be given to them, free of conditions, and they must be made complete and free owners of that. You cannot give Zakat with conditions. You cannot give the money and say, use it for your children's education. Use it for this or that. Then it is not Zakat. Then it is ordinary charity. InshaAllah, Allah will reward you for charity. But your liability for Zakat with Allah still remains. And if you don't pay, you will be punished. It is your job, even if you give the Zakat to an institution to disburse it, it is your job to ensure that it is disbursed and it is given to the people who actually are eligible to receive it. It is your job to ensure that. So make sure you do your due diligence, check if the organization has separate Zakat account, if they are keeping their account, ask them to give you the names, who they have given it to, go and investigate to make sure, so that you are clear before Allah. We ask Allah to make us among those who will not owe anything of Zakat when we meet Him. And may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family. May Allah grant him peace and blessings of Allah.
