In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And peace and blessings be upon the honour of the prophets and messengers. Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷲ, peace and blessings be upon him, and upon his family and his companions, peace and blessings be upon them. Fahm Abadu and brothers and sisters, please understand also one more thing: that Ramadan is a time for us to control ourselves, to control our food intake, to control our sleep, to control our desires. It’s not a time and opportunity for us to eat much more than we normally eat, to spend our time in iftar parties at the time of iftar. Suhoor and iftar are times of prayer. Allah ﷻ accepts du’as. There is barakah and suhoor at iftar, so eat suhoor and eat iftar. But these are the times for du’as. This is not the time for indulging in parties and in cooking special foods and in making a lot of noise and so on and so forth. This is the time when you sit quietly and you reflect and you introspect and you, inshallah, create a beautiful atmosphere of respect and an atmosphere of focusing on Allah ﷻ and focusing on our lives.
Also make sure that this is the time when you share food with your neighbours, share food, especially with poor people. As I said, this is not a matter of having parties and sharing food with wealthy people who are on diets and you just keep on sharing food. Sharing food with each other, but also share food with poor people. Make Ramadan a play, a time when everyone around you looks forward to that time and says that, alhamdulillah, this is the time when the Muslims are especially generous. Once again, Ramadan is not only for Ramadan. We should be generous all the time. People are not anacondas. They don’t eat only once a year. So we must share food, we must give food, we must feed people throughout the year and make Ramadan as the booster for us. Make Ramadan as the instigator of all good things. And one of them is to be charitable, to share food, to share clothing, to share, help people through difficulties, especially go visit hospitals, especially go visit hospitals because there are people there who are sick and their relatives are there and they don’t have food to eat for suhoor, food to eat for iftar. Go share food with them. Let them feel the beauty of Ramadan. Let them not worry about how to find food for suhoor, anything. Iftar and so on. You go take food for them from your home. Help them, feed them. Do, do whatever you can, which you think and you know will please Allah ﷻ.
My brothers and sisters, as I said, we don’t know if you will see another Ramadan. We see this Ramadan, alhamdulillah. We ask Allah ﷻ to make this the best of our lives yet, inshaAllah. And then if Allah ﷻ shows us more, we do more every time we see another Ramadan. But let us not waste it. Let us not waste a single minute, a single second of this beautiful month. We ask Allah, to bless us and to bless all around us.
