Auto-generated transcript: Bismillah, walhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ala rasulillah ﷺ, wa abad. My brothers and sisters, we are coming to the close of the month. I'tikaf is a sunnat of Rasulullah ﷺ. He used to do I'tikaf the last ten nights of Ramadan al-Kareem. He would seclude himself in the masjid and he would make I'tikaf. He would stay away from his wives. He would be in a state of zikr and he would exert himself in prayer. No useless talk. Please understand, I'tikaf has rules. I'tikaf, you are not going to the masjid to hang out with your friends. You are not going to the masjid to chit-chat and to make a lot of noise and stuff. Some of the ulama have even disliked any excess and too much of lectures and stuff. Maybe one reminder or something, more than enough. But go there only and purely for the sake of Allah ﷻ to seclude yourself. In zikr, in Tilawatul Quran, in Nawafil and then of course the A'mal of the masjid and then when you have done all that you get tired and go to sleep. So this is the way of I'tikaf. Try to do that in the masjid of your mahala, wherever you are close. Go and make I'tikaf last ten nights. In the last year of Rasulullah ﷺ's life, he made I'tikaf for twenty nights. The purpose of I'tikaf is to seek Laylatul Qadr. This is the purpose. And Rasulullah ﷺ told us that he said, "Seek Laylatul Qadr in the last 10 nights of Ramadan and in the odd nights of those 10 nights." So now if you are doing all the 10 nights then inshallah definitely you would have and I would have got Laylatul Qadr. The benefit of Laylatul Qadr, Allah ﷻ said: **إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ** (Inna anzalnahu fi laylati mubarakati) **وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ** (Wa ma adraaka maa laylatu alqadri) **لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ** (Laylatu alqadri khayrun min alf shahrin) Allah ﷻ said, "What do you know about the value of Laylatul Qadr? It is better than 1000 months." He didn't say it's equal to that. How much better? In keeping with His Majesty and Grace Jalla Jalaluhu. So if we get Laylatul Qadr, it is better than worship continuous worship without a break for 1000 months and more—how much more Allah knows. So make I'tikaf; it is a beautiful sunnah. Take this time out. Make use of it. Don't waste it in chit chatting and this and that and joking and whatnot and eating more and more food. Eat less, sleep less, worship Allah ﷻ more. This is the sunnat of I'tikaf. Do the sunnah I'tikaf inshallah. We ask Allah ﷻ to make it easy and to make it something which is full of khair and barakah. Wa sallallahu ala nabiyyil kareem wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma'in bi rahmatik ya Allah.
