Bismillah, walhamdulillah, Wassalamu Ala Rasoolillah, my brothers and sisters. I remind myself and you: the month of Ramadan is a gift from Allahﷻ. I ask Allahﷻ to give us and continue with us in this month with good health and with the desire to please Him. Let us exert ourselves, not become lazy. Let us read as much Quran as we can read, pray as many Nawafil as we can pray, and of course, we are fasting. We ask Allahﷻ to reward us because one day, my brothers and sisters—whether anyone believes it or not doesn’t matter; whether you accept it or not doesn’t matter—the Day of Judgment is Haqq. Allahﷻ said, "Let the one who wants prepare himself for that day." That day is Haqq, and that day will come. On that day, we will be resurrected from our graves and stand before Allahﷻ. On that day, we will be called to account. We ask Allahﷻ to make that day the best day of our lives, Inshallah.
For that to happen, Allahﷻ says, "Rasool Allahﷺ said, 'This is what Allah has given you, and Allah has made it easy for us.'" In a beautiful Hadith in Muslim Sharif, Abu Ayub al-Ansari, the host of Rasool Allahﷺ, reported that Rasool Allahﷺ said: "Whoever fasts in Ramadan and follows it with fasting six days of Shawwal, it is as if he has fasted forever." Now, the six days of Shawwal can be any six days in Shawwal—you can do it consecutively, immediately after Eid, give it a day or two, and after that, you can fast for six days, or you can fast any time in the month of Shawwal. These six days can be individually or in twos or whatever. A good way of doing that is to fast on Thursdays and Mondays, which is the Sunnah of Rasool Allahﷺ, and to fast on the three white nights: the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the month. Inshallah, you can complete it. But when we do that, remember we are getting the reward of fasting as if you have fasted for the whole year. He said, "Fasted even." See the beauty of this. How easy Allahﷻ makes it for us to please Him. Let us not become lazy. Let us make sure that we do all of this and more. We ask Allahﷻ to reward us. My brothers and sisters. We do not know if you are going to get another Ramadan. Let us make this into the best Ramadan that we have yet. And make this for every Ramadan. Allahﷻ gives us to say, let this be the best that I have ever done before.
