All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
And peace and blessings be upon the honour of the prophets and messengers.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and upon his family and companions.
Peace be upon him and upon his family.
Faham Abadu.
My brothers and sisters, we are looking at the hikayat and the advice of Hatim al-Assam.
Arhatul Ali.
And there are totally eight of them.
We finished five.
Today is the sixth.
He said, I have seen that in this world, everyone has at least one enemy.
I have seen that in this world, everyone has at least one enemy.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the Quran,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, which means, surely, shaitan is an enemy to you.
So take him as an enemy.
Treat him as an enemy.
Shaitan is your enemy.
So treat him as an enemy.
He only invites his followers to become inmates of hellfire, of the blaze.
So Hatim al-Assam, rahmatullah, he says,
So I have taken shaitan to be my enemy.
And I always try to keep away from him.
Therefore, I have no enemy besides or other than shaitan.
I remember myself when you, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
told us about shaitan.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said,
Allah said,
Do you believe?
Enter into Islam fully, completely, not partially, not selectively, fully and completely.
And do not follow the footsteps of shaitan.
Verily, he is an open enemy.
When we look at this ayat,
first of all, the ayat which I recited before,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is warning us and telling us clearly,
your enemy is shaitan.
So what must you do with the enemy?
Treat him like an enemy.
Don't treat him like a friend.
Don't treat him like, he's okay, I will ignore.
No.
What do you do with the enemy?
You fight the enemy.
So Allah is saying, actively fight the shaitan.
Actively fight the shaitan.
And the other ayat of Surah al-Baqarah,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is saying,
don't follow the footsteps of shaitan.
Which means shaitan is not there.
He's not catching you and dragging you.
He went away.
Only the mark of his passing is there.
Allah says, don't follow this mark.
Right?
If you remember the ayat that Sheikh recited in the first rakat,
which refers to the ayat concerning the Battle of Badr,
where first shaitan tells the Quraysh,
don't worry,
he says, I am your neighbor, I am your friend.
And then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said,
then when he saw the forces that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sent,
when he saw the malaika,
he says,
he said, I am free from you.
I am gone.
So the friendship of shaitan is a very dicey thing.
First of all, it leads you only into,
one place which is the hellfire.
And that is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said,
the shaitan will say on the day of judgment,
that Allah told you to do something and I told you to do something.
You chose to follow me.
You made the choice to follow me.
He says, don't send lanat on me, send lanat on yourself.
Don't curse me, curse yourself.
Because you chose the path.
I was gone, only my footsteps were there.
You made the choice.
You knew these are the footsteps of shaitan.
You know it is haram.
Still you do it.
So you can't blame shaitan.
You can't say, oh shaitan made me.
No, shaitan did not make you.
Shaitan did not make you do it.
Shaitan did what shaitan does.
He was tempting.
And this is what shaitan will tell us.
That's the reason why we must read the Quran,
understand the Quran,
study the Quran and read.
Because shaitan, Allah swt told us everything that shaitan will tell us.
We have two forces to fight.
One is shaitan, one is our nafs.
Our own desires.
Now there is a way of distinguishing,
differentiating between what comes from the nafs
and what comes from shaitan.
So listen carefully.
There is a way of differentiating
what comes from shaitan
and what comes from shaitan.
And what comes from shaitan.
And what comes from the nafs.
Shaitan wants to make you disobey Allah.
For shaitan, it does not matter how you disobey Allah.
As long as you're disobeying Allah swt.
Whether you are doing drugs,
whether you're doing alcohol,
whether you're doing pornography or fornication,
whether you're not praying,
whether you're not fasting,
whether you're dealing in interest,
buying, selling, haram.
It makes no difference.
Anything.
As long as you are disobeying,
Allah,
shaitan is happy.
So shaitan will tempt you in many different ways.
For the pious people, for the ulama,
for the righteous people,
shaitan has ways of trapping them.
In arrogance, he makes them feel,
Oh, I'm so pious.
I'm such a big sheikh.
I know so much Quran.
These people know nothing.
Right?
That's a path to Jahannam.
Because it is kibur.
For shaitan, it is a path to Jahannam.
Because it is kibur.
For people who are not like that,
shaitan has another way.
For everyone, different ways.
So as long as you are disobeying Allah,
no matter which way,
shaitan is happy.
But not the nafs.
The nafs is addiction.
The nafs is addicted to something.
For example, if some people smoke,
some don't smoke.
The non-smoker, you cannot make him smoke.
Some people drink, others don't drink.
Some do drugs, others don't do.
Even if the person is in a place
where everyone around him is doing,
is smoking pot, smoking hashish,
he will not touch.
It is not attractive to him.
He has no pleasure from that.
But he will do something else.
Right?
He will do something else.
So the nafs, so when you are tempted,
stop for a minute and ask yourself,
this thing which is tempting me,
which is disobedience of Allah,
is it one particular thing which is tempting me
all the time I fall into the same trap,
then this is from your nafs.
Everything else is fine,
that one particular thing traps you.
That is nafs.
And if you are falling into every trap,
then this is shaitan.
Both of them we have to fight.
Both of them we have to go against.
But at least if you know what it is,
it is a good thing.
So Allah is saying,
fight shaitan.
Now how do you fight shaitan?
First rule of fighting is get out.
Get out from there.
Right?
Don't be there.
So the first rule of fighting is get out.
For example, you are sitting in a gathering,
somebody starts bad talking somebody,
ghivat.
Get up and walk away.
Allah gave you legs, use the legs.
Just get back.
Don't even engage with them.
Don't do this, it is ghivat.
It will get into argument, what not.
Just get up and walk away.
Maybe the same person,
you meet them another time,
you tell them, look,
every time we meet,
you only talk about bad things about people.
Let's not do that.
Let's talk about something useful, beneficial.
Right?
Which helps all of us.
Get up and walk away.
So first thing is,
leave the company of people
who are engaged in shaitani activities.
People doing drugs,
people doing pornography,
people doing wasting time,
people, ghivat, what not.
Right?
I don't want to make a long list.
We know the list.
Change your company.
Get out from those circles.
Your friends list, change that.
First and foremost.
Second thing is,
dhikr of Allah's mahanata.
Start making dhikr of Allah's mahanata.
If necessary,
start making dhikr of Allah's mahanata loudly.
Say, La ilaha illa Allah.
La ilaha illa Allah.
Shaitan will run away.
Shaitan will run away.
Nabi said,
call adhan.
He said, call adhan.
Shaitan runs from adhan.
So make dhikr of Allah's mahanata.
Softly, loudly, whatever works for you.
And depending on the situation,
make dhikr of Allah's mahanata.
Third thing is,
always be in a state of tahara.
That's another very important thing.
Men and women both.
Be in a state of tahara.
Make sure that your body is pure.
Try to be in a state of wudu 24x7.
And it's not difficult.
Every time you go to the toilet,
make wudu.
And remain in a state of wudu.
Because all of this is protection against shaitan.
Then do the azkar.
Morning azkar, evening azkar.
You all know what they are.
Ayatul kursi.
The muwaddatayn.
Suwad tul ikhlas.
All of these.
And very, very important,
remember,
fardh salat.
Fulfilling the fardh.
Fardh salat,
in namadhar, fasting,
and so on.
Zakat,
hajj umrah, all of this.
But fardh salat is everyday thing, right?
Hajj umrah and so on is...
But fardh, everyday.
So make sure you pray your fardh salat on time.
And if possible, whenever possible,
in the masjid.
Any masjid.
But make sure you never ever miss fardh salat.
No matter where it is,
you pray in the forest, no problem.
But pray the fardh salat at its time,
if possible, in the masjid.
Right?
So these are some of the ways of fighting shaitan.
You must fight.
You must fight.
You have to fight.
He is your enemy, so fight him.
And of course, Allah swt promised to help us.
The biggest weapon against shaitan is what?
A'udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem.
Allah said,
Fast a'idh Billah.
Seek the help of Allah.
Seek the protection of Allah.
A'udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem.
Say, A'udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem.
Make sure that you say,
A'udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem.
This is the biggest weapon against shaitan.
So with our dhikr,
with our dhikr,
with our dhikr,
with our company,
with our habits,
and with what we say,
these are the ways to fight shaitan.
Consciously, be conscious of it,
and fight shaitan.
Don't ignore.
Don't think shaitan will go away.
Don't say,
Yeah, it's okay, I'll do it today, tomorrow.
No.
Make sure you do that very consciously.
Because, subhanAllah,
if we fall into the trap of shaitan,
and we die in that state,
then there is no escape.
We ask Allah to keep us safe from shaitan in this life.
We ask Allah to keep us safe from shaitan,
especially at the time of death.
Because that's the time when shaitan tries his best
to make you slip.
We ask Allah to protect us.
And,
Tawaffana musliman wa alikna bih salihin.
