Where does my Hope come from? It comes from the Lord. The world needs more Hope, Light and Prayer now more than ever- from natural disasters (earthquake in Turkey & Syria), to world conflict, to cost of living, and all of the evil being spread in the world we need to be the light that points people to Jesus, that points people to God and the hope, and peace and light we get from Him. We are called in 1 Peter 3:15 to share with others the reason for our Hope- friends it is time to be prepared to share our testimonies, and our faith and pray with others. We've all been through hard things. And we all know friends or family who have experienced loss, grief, a diagnosis, or difficult time. The question is how do we show up for other people during those times? Sometimes it's hard to know how to show up for others when they are going through the trenches so we might say- let me know what I can do to help. But often the person doesn't tell us what we can do because they are just trying to get through the day, through the hard season.What if instead we just showed up. What if instead we just did something. What if instead we took action to show them we care, that they are loved, that we are there beside them. How would that change how they felt in that hard season? I believe God partners with us to make our art- whether is words in a poem or song, or inspiration for our book or craft- I think God is constantly giving us divine ideas and inspiration. And I think when we collect words, and ideas and photos that inspire us and pull them back out when we want to be inspired, or encouraged, or lit up it brings about more gratefulness, reminds us of who we are, what moved us and I think that shows us a reflection of who God is- the master Creator. We each have many roles, titles and jobs in different seasons (mom, wife, daughter, sister, volunteer, worker, specialist,etc) and when we find ourselves in a season of change where a title, role or job transition, loss or change happens we can struggle to let go of that identity or accept a new identity. But if we can remember our truest identity is being a child of God, a daughter of the King we will always be able to more easily let go of the confusion, insecurity or difficulty titles, roles and identities can cause us. Today I want to share a message of love, and hope to anyone suffering with depression, or feelings of hopelessness or going through a season of darkness or extreme loneliness. If you or someone you know is struggling you can call or text 988 24/7 to get support through a crisis line. Always reach out to someone and if needed please contact a professional therapist or doctor.I want to remind you- you are so loved by people around you and by God. I Love You.We each need other people, and connection (to a person and even a pet)and touch- even hugging a puppy or holding someone's hand or getting a hug. Finding even a tiny thing to be grateful for each day (soft blankets, or dogs) also helps just a little light get in.You are unique and have so much worth and value just as you are- without changing, or accomplishing anything- you were made for a purpose and even if you don't know what it is right now, and even if you don't feel you have worth I promise you- you do.One day as you begin to feel a bit more hopeful, a bit more promise for the future Your story, your words, your hurt will help someone else through their own struggles and journey through a hard or hopeless season.And family and friends- check on your people. And tell them you love them. Tell them you are proud of them just as they are- not because of the striving or degrees or certain job or whatever but right now you love them and need them. Sit with them. Don't push or force, just do little things to help them heal. Find resources and make sure they know they can call or text 988 or find a local or online counselor. But practice acceptance and baby steps.Make time for people- book a flight and get on the damn plane and see your loved one. Drive 15 hours- make the call- do whatever it takes to show up in your loved ones or friends lives. People are struggling- all ages from young kids to seniors and everyone in between. How do we help? How do we heal? We connect. We invite. We sit quietly. We make a meal for someone. We tell them they are loved and worthy. We pray. We keep showing up and we fight for the light and for community.'When I was brought low he saved me.' Are there days where you feel like your day felt wasted? Or you didn't feel very helpful or productive or choose to stay in your pjs instead of volunteering? Well I have good news- I think it's less about the big things we do and more about the tiny sometimes almost unperceptible things we do for others that can have the biggest impact in our days.When we choose to show up in our day as an extension of love,letting others know we see them, they matter and we care it has a ripple effect and brings forth hope, love and connection into the world.Some days the most important thing I do might be make peanut butter toast (or a sandwich) for my son/s. Why? Because one of them has been walking through a hard season and I came to realize showing up to make him what he will eat says more than my words in the language of love.God is found in the details, in the service, in the doing, and in the noticing. He is found in the choices we make to be an extension of hope, love, kindness and caring and today's episode is all abou that.So maybe you need to be reminded of all those little things you do for your family or your neighbor or a community every day that impacts hearts. Because the small things are actually the big things.
