He is best known for horror and paranormal non-fiction, such as The Girl in the Corn duology, and Chasing American Monsters, and humorous science fiction, like So You Had to Build a Time Machine. He teaches university journalism in Northwest Missouri, cooks for his family, and wastes much of his writing time trying to keep the cat off his lap.
