Ep 254254: Nicki Thompson – Fasting With Nicki
Nicki Thompson Nicki Thompson has spent over 20 years working in health and fitness, with experience spanning personal training, group fitness coaching, health coaching, and gym management. Her journey began when she was first introduced to the gym in her early twenties, sparking a passion for fitness that never left her. Despite outwardly appearing “in shape,” Nicki’s relationship with health was far from balanced. Behind the discipline, calorie tracking, and intense training, she was caught in a cycle of extreme restriction followed by secret bingeing, driven by control rather than self-care. No matter how much she knew about nutrition and fitness, lasting change felt out of reach. Everything shifted when Nicki turned her focus to mindset, habit change, and the psychology of behaviour. She discovered that willpower is limited, and that real transformation comes from self-awareness rather than force. Fasting became a pivotal tool in her own healing. Beyond the physical benefits, it offered clarity, calm, and the space to observe patterns without judgement. This reframing of fasting as a practice of awareness, not punishment, became central to her approach. Nicki is now a certified Functional Nutrition Health Coach, Cognitive Behavioural Coach (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Coach (REBT), and Goal Success Coach. She specialises in helping women step out of all-or-nothing cycles and build sustainable health grounded in self-trust, flexibility, and long-term progress. Link to Show Notes on Website https://fabulouslyketo.com/podcast/254 Nicki’s Top Tips Set a goal, decide what that is, what you want and what’s the bigger vision that you see for yourself. Write down the actions that you would do when you have achieved that. Make a list of actions of what this version of you looks like. Create affirmations based on points 1 & 2. Ep 247247: Jenn Trepeck – Salad with A Side of Fries
Jenn Trepeck Jenn Trepeck has been described as a “force of nature” in the wellness space. She’s been recognized as one of Podcast Magazine’s 40 under 40, nominated for the 2022 International Women’s Podcast Award for Visionary Leadership, and won Ear Worthy’s first Independent Podcast Award for Best Health Podcast and Best Independent Podcast in 2024. She is an Optimal Health Coach, Podcaster, and Business Consultant. Jenn grew up the skinny one in a family of dieters which was awesome(!) until it went away. And so began her weight management saga. Ultimately though, Jenn learned the nutrition education we’re all supposed to know but no one ever taught us. This completely changed her life and allowed her to say she “kicked her food issues.” From then, Jenn set-out on a mission to pay it forward and help people help themselves. After over a decade of working with clients, Jenn started Salad with a Side of Fries podcast. Based on science, yet lighthearted, Jenn talks about living life while still making ourselves and our health a priority. Link to Show Notes on Website https://fabulouslyketo.com/podcast/247. Jenn’s Top Tips So much of what we think about mood or willpower is actually biochemical so focus on nutrition. Recognize that nothing exists in isolation, it isn’t just food, other lifestyle factors lie movement, stress and sleep are part of the whole. Keep it simple – do what you can do and don’t sweat the small stuff. Jenn’s Books First book is slated for release September 2025! Ep 246246: 5th Anniversary Highlights
5th Anniversary Highlights This week we are celebrating a huge milestone — five years of The Fabulously Keto Podcast. What started back in October 2020 has now grown into over 240 episodes and countless conversations that have inspired, educated and supported listeners on their health journeys. To mark the occasion, I invited Louise back to join me in revisiting some of the most powerful moments from past episodes. I’ve selected five clips that capture the breadth of stories, insights and expertise shared over the years. It’s a chance to reflect, to celebrate, and to say thank you to everyone who has been part of the podcast so far. Amy Eiges – shares her incredible 225-pound weight loss journey, from desperation and depression to long-term success with low carb. Her story is a reminder of how resilience and the right approach can truly transform health. Nina Teicholz – explains why questioning nutrition orthodoxy matters, and how The Big Fat Surprise changed the conversation on fat. Her work continues to reassure people that real food and saturated fat can be both safe and healing. Dr Elizabeth Bright – reframes menopause as a natural, powerful stage of life rather than a medical problem. She highlights how understanding our hormones can help women navigate this transition with confidence. Patricia Peat – brings hope through her integrative approach to cancer, showing how informed choices can support both treatment and wellbeing. Her perspective empowers people to take an active role in their health journey. Graham Phillips – unpacks GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, their risks and benefits and why his episode remains a great reference point. His insights help listeners see beyond the hype and make balanced, informed decisions. Ep 244244: Faith-Anne – A Child’s Perspective on Sugar and Health
Faith-Anne Hi, I’m Faith-Anne! I’ve been sugar and wheat free since I was four years old. Before that, I only had tiny amounts, but when I started school, my parents noticed I was getting a lot more, and they didn’t feel okay with that. Since they don’t eat sugar themselves, they decided to feed me only real food, the kind they’d eat too. Now I feel amazing! I can focus better at school, I don’t get so fidgety, and I have loads of energy for swimming, which I love. I’m making this podcast to help other kids (and grown-ups!) learn what sugar really does to us and how much better we can feel without it. Link to Show Notes on Website https://fabulouslyketo.com/podcast/244. Faith’s Top Tips Don’t let other people talk you into something by telling you it is cool. Don’t be a cog in a machine – there is sugar everywhere so don’t be a part of it that machine – don’t buy it for them. Don’t believe the famous the people that have sugary drinks placed in front of them – they probably don’t drink them. Look at labels – if one of the first 3-5 ingredients is a sugar product don’t buy it.
