In today's Expat Chat we wrap up the 2023 calendar year as well as answer some audience questions. As we approach the end of the year, interest rates are starting to squeeze households, the war in Ukraine continues, and many world economies may already be in recession. From an investing perspective, it’s likely we’ll be looking forward to welcoming in the fresh start of 2023. Touching on investment matters, we’ve seemingly found some calm among stocks and bonds recently. The housing market has experienced a slowdown across leading indicators such as construction activity, mortgage lending and most recently in sales prices. This was the year when the Fed finally admitted that the highest inflation rate since the early 1980s was not "transitory" in a stunning mea culpa. The Atlas Wealth team will be taking a short break over the Christmas - New Year period and the Dubai office will shut down from the 22nd of December and will return on the 5th of January.
