Watford (H) preview: Jamaal Lascelles new deal, Salomon Rondon to start? And United on the verge of making history

Welcome to the Everything is Black and White Podcast. Newcastle United welcome Watford to St. James' Park hoping to avoid a sixth successive defeat at home.If the Magpies fall to the Hornets, they would become the first team in top flight history to loose that many of their opening home games.Manager Rafa Benitez insists he is not taking any notice of the history books but such a record will be hard to avoid - as will the club's current Premier League position of 19th.Watford meanwhile are seventh, and could move into the top six if they beat United in what would be a third successive victory having beaten Wolves and Huddersfield. The London side travel to Newcastle knowing that they've won their last four clashes against the Magpies, the last was a 3-0 win last November. But with a point gained at Southampton and captain Jamaal Lascelles signing a new deal at the club, the Magpies go into the game on a bit of a high. Just went wrong as Newcastle United threw away a two goal lead? Lee Ryder and Chris Waugh review MUFC 3-2 NUFC

Newcastle United threw away a 2-0 lead and were left heartbroken thanks to a last minute Manchester United winner at Old Traffod. The Magpies were two goals up within 10 minutes and went into the break on-top, and in control but saw their lead slip away before Alexis Sanchez grabbed the winner in the 91st minute.Rafa Benitez's side now go into the international break still in the relegation zone and still looking for that first win of the season.Kenedy opened the scoring in the seventh minute - curling in an effort from just inside the box. Yoshinori Muto made it two with a superb turn and shot past De Gea.The Magpies then had chances to extend their lead with Muto, Jamaal Lascelles and Ayoze Perez guilty of not taking their chances.Jose Mourinho changed things at half-time and Manchester United sparked into life with Paul Pogba free to pull the strings. But the Magpies continue to look for a third, Matt Ritchie and Kenedy going close before the Red Devils got one back.Juan Mata scored with a free-kick on the edge of the box with 20 minutes to go. Anthony Martial then got the scores left with 15 minutes left before Alexis Sanchez rose at the death to nod in the winner.Lee Ryder and Chris Waugh review the game from Old Trafford. Are Rafa Benitez and Lee Charnley being punished for previous transfer windows? Why did Mike Ashley turn up at Crystal Palace?

Newcastle United are still without a win in this year’s Premier League campaign but managed to stop the rot with a point away to Crystal Palace.Rafa Benitez led his side to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park and survived a late onslaught by Roy Hodgson’s men, Mamadou Sakho heading wide with an open goal at his mercy.United created little and in this week’s episode of Everything is Black and White Podcast, the discussion of where those goals will come from is a hot topic.ChronicleLive’s chief Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder and NUFC Writer Chris Waugh are joined by Mirror Football’s Simon Bird to dissect the weekend’s game and other issues at the club. This includes the appearance of Mike Ashley at United game for the first time in 16 months, why he has finally surfaced and whether it had a negative impact on the clash at Palace. The trio, alongside host Andrew Musgrove, discuss United’s transfer policy and whether it remains locked in the year 2011-12, when the club could readily pick up bargains. There’s also a look at whether Lee Charnley and Benitez are being punished for perceived failures in the transfer market in the summer United strengthened to go straight back up to the Premier League.Benitez’s future and the debate over Aleksandar Mitrovic are also discussed in this week’s Everything is Black and White Podcast brought to you in association with EToro. You can listen to the podcast by clicking the widget below, heading directly to acast, through iTunes, Spotify or Podbean. Please remember to like, subscribe and rate our podcast and also get in touch with us at @ChronicleNUFC both on Facebook and Twitter with your questions and feedback.
